Musical Tools
These options are great for 3rd grade and up students. Most are real musical tools you can use to create or perform music. Some are free, some are a limited demo. A few may require Flash, which is not supported by most browsers :(

Soundtrap { Soundtrap }
Sountrap is a browser-based Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) you can use to record and produce tracks. You don't even need an instrument, as it has plenty of built-in instruments. Soundtrap has a demo you can use for free.

Flat { Flat.io }
Flat.io is an online music notation program. It has a steep learning curve, but lets you make and share music with others. You can use it for free with very few limitations! I use this app to share music with students in class.

An addictive shape based drum sequencer that has a unique visual style. Its really fun to play with and compose your own beats. It also has several example beats from famous songs.

There are many experiments to explore in the Music Lab! Make music, explore the science of sound, and much more at this wonderful website.

Right now Music Play Online is free to use for any student! Simply go to the website and find activities, songs, and games!

Lots of fun choices, but most are better for a younger age of K - 1.

Innovative and interesting web audiovisual artwork. Some are interactive like Flora Drift, Solarbeat and Yume. Others like Blokdust are bonkers music making tools.

My Singing Monsters { App }
My Singing Monsters is a hilarious and amazing game where you collecting and breed monsters that sing. There are a few versions of the game! The original, My Singing Monsters, is a more conventional game with a goal of collecting monsters. The Composer game puts you in control of many monsters to create and share music.
